As a parish we stand on the shoulders of giants. Those who have gone before us and who have done so much to build up the life of the church. We have inherited what they have built and we are tasked to pass the faith on to the next generation. Over the last two years the PCC have been developing plans for the redevelopment of the nave. As you will have seen, the physical fabric of the church is in need of some work. The carpets are unsuitable for the building and cover uneven worn flooring. The seating is inflexible and uncomfortable, the pillars are degrading at the base and need to be looked at. There is considerable work needed to bring the structure up to scratch and fit for mission. We will soon be entering into a period of consultation about any work to be undertaken. I have attached below the statement of needs and significance produced by the buildings committee and some very early outline plans produced by our architect. They are very exciting indeed but we are at an early stage and want to take it step by step. Please do have a look at the plans and look out for our further stages regarding consolation and sharing of the plans. At the moment the PCC is engaging the Diocesan Advisory Committee to advise us on next steps.

In parallel to the process of consultation, refining of plans and making decisions about a redevelopment of the nave, we will be seeking to launch a campaign to support our redevelopment. We are pleased to announce that we intend to have a launch of our plans in Sheffield on Sunday 5 November. We have managed to attract several high profile patrons and will be announcing who they are over the coming weeks. Please let me know if you would like to be involved in any way. I am keen to use the gifts and talents of all our people. A London supporter of the parish has also agreed to host a dinner in London to fundraise for the project and further details of that will be announced in due course.
